THE PALACE CHAPEL & THE PALACE GARDENS
Gråsten Palace is the summer residence of the Danish Royal Family. Visit the Gråsten Palace Chapel or go for a walk in the beautiful surroundings of the Gråsten Palace Gardens which adjoin the Gråsten woods.
Gråsten Palace really entered the public consciousness when Denmark’s main television channel Danmarks Radio ran a series called “The Queen’s Palaces”. Her Majesty expressed her love for the palace and the town of Gråsten which, in Her Majesty’s view, embodies all that is best about the Danish summer.
Gråsten Palace Chapel
Gråsten Palace Chapel is the only building on the estate which is open to the public.

Gråsten Palace Gardens
Gråsten Palace Gardens are an English-inspired landscape garden that blends in beautifully and seamlessly with the Southern Jutland landscape. Provided that the royal family is not in residence, the Palace Gardens are open every day, all year round. In the summer months, in particular, you can enjoy the large rose and perennial beds that radiate beautifully in a cornucopia of colour.
Changing of the guard
When the Queen visits Gråsten Palace Gardens in the summer, you can see a changing of the guard on the Palace Courtyard every day at 12 noon. On Fridays there is a parade with a marching band and a drum marching band. Every day, the procession starts at the Yellow Palace opposite Ahlmannsparken. The guards march through the town, past the town hall square at about 11.45 – and then head on towards Gråsten Palace.
